"An Unsovereign Life" captures Eastman’s exploration of boundaries and resilience, rendered in acrylic and gold ink on a warm wood panel. Unlike her other works, the use of wood as a medium grounds this piece, adding a natural resonance to the intricate patterns that ripple across its surface. Eastman’s design invites a direct confrontation with the tension between structure and fragmentation, as if capturing the precise moment when internal frameworks evolve or erode. With no need for a frame, this piece is ready to hang, offering viewers an immediate, tactile connection.

About Dale Eastman

Dale Eastman is a multi-media artist who trained early on as both a seamstress and a journalist. Using a wide range of skills--from hand sewing to drawing to woodworking--Dale's art practice continually reaches for new connections, all in search of the underlying wholeness each of us craves. Her influences are also disparate, including artist Leonora Carrington, naturalist Ernst Haeckel and analytical psychologist Carl Jung. Prior to becoming an artist, Dale spent nearly two decades as a writer. Even now, from her art studio atop Russian Hill--one of the few San Francisco neighborhoods to survive the 1906 earthquake--storytelling is at the core of what she creates.
