There Is No Other, IV
There Is No Other, IV
In "There Is No Other, IV," Eastman overlays the rigid structure of a geometric sidewalk pattern with the organic silhouette of a mythical form discovered within the textures of a stone wall. This juxtaposition encourages a second look - challenging viewers to see beyond what they might expect. By merging the familiar with the enigmatic, Eastman prompts us to question whether what we perceive is truly "other" or a reflection of our own psyche. Through this work, she explores the possibility that our minds shape what we see, blurring the line between the external world and our internal landscapes.

About Dale Eastman
Dale Eastman is a multi-media artist who trained early on as both a seamstress and a journalist. Using a wide range of skills--from hand sewing to drawing to woodworking--Dale's art practice continually reaches for new connections, all in search of the underlying wholeness each of us craves. Her influences are also disparate, including artist Leonora Carrington, naturalist Ernst Haeckel and analytical psychologist Carl Jung. Prior to becoming an artist, Dale spent nearly two decades as a writer. Even now, from her art studio atop Russian Hill--one of the few San Francisco neighborhoods to survive the 1906 earthquake--storytelling is at the core of what she creates.
