There Is No Other, V
There Is No Other, V
In "There Is No Other, V," Eastman transforms a simple sidewalk stain into a charged feminine figure, repeating the form to evoke familiarity and mystery. Set against a background of computer motherboards, the piece contrasts organic and technological textures, hinting at the layered ways we perceive and project meaning. This work challenges viewers to question whether they are truly seeing what’s in front of them or interpreting based on internal narratives. Eastman suggests that what we often interpret as "other" may instead be fragments of our own psyche, seeking recognition.

About Dale Eastman
Dale Eastman is a multi-media artist who trained early on as both a seamstress and a journalist. Using a wide range of skills--from hand sewing to drawing to woodworking--Dale's art practice continually reaches for new connections, all in search of the underlying wholeness each of us craves. Her influences are also disparate, including artist Leonora Carrington, naturalist Ernst Haeckel and analytical psychologist Carl Jung. Prior to becoming an artist, Dale spent nearly two decades as a writer. Even now, from her art studio atop Russian Hill--one of the few San Francisco neighborhoods to survive the 1906 earthquake--storytelling is at the core of what she creates.
